From the fitDEGREE App, Clients can bring a friend to a Class, send a Guest Pass, or purchase items on behalf of another person. The flow is centered on the Bring a Friend button, which gives the Client several options depending on whether their friend already has an account at the studio.
For Bring a Friend to be available, Social Purchases must be enabled in your studio settings: Setup > App Settings > Payment Settings > Social Purchases.
Where to find Bring a Friend
Bring a Friend appears on every registrable detail screen in the fitDEGREE App. The button options Clients see depend on whether they have registered yet:
Before registering, the registrable detail screen shows two buttons below the banner image: Register and Bring a Friend.
After registering, the buttons change to Withdraw, Bring a Friend, and Add to Calendar.
Tapping Bring a Friend opens a new screen listing the Client's app friends and an option to Bring Someone Else.
Bringing a friend who has a fitDEGREE App account
If the friend is on the Client's app friends list, tapping their name opens a screen with up to three options depending on whether the friend meets the Class's registration requirements.
Register them directly — only available if the friend has no outstanding registration requirements (waivers signed, no tag restrictions on the Class, no past-due bills, and all required profile fields completed). The Client can pay with a Guest Pass or purchase the friend an item to register.
Send them a Guest Pass — opens the Send Guest Pass flow. A use is deducted from the Client's Guest Perk only when the friend claims the pass.
Purchase them an item — buys a Class Pack, One-on-One Pack, or Intro Offer that lands directly on the friend's account.
When a Client registers a friend directly, the friend receives a push notification: "A friend registered you: [Client] registered you for [Class] on [date] at [time]". If the friend doesn't meet all the registration requirements, the screen explains: "[Client] has additional registration requirements to complete and can't be registered by someone else right now, but you can still send them a Guest Pass or purchase them an item."
Bringing someone who is not on the app
If the Client selects Bring Someone Else (someone without an existing account), they see two options:
Send a Guest Pass — generates a shareable Guest Pass link the Client can text, email, or message to their friend. The recipient needs to create a fitDEGREE App account to claim the pass.
Send gift card via email — generates a digital Gift Card with a custom message, which the friend can use to register and pay for the Class.
What the Client sees when a Guest Pass is sent
After sending a Guest Pass, the Client sees a confirmation screen with a share button at the bottom:
Guest pass sent
A guest pass has been sent to [Friend] — a use will be deducted from your guest perk once they claim it
Valid for 1 use from [start date] to [expiration date]
Not yet claimed
The Client's Guest Perk use is only deducted once the recipient claims the Guest Pass. If the pass is never claimed, the Client doesn't lose a use, and they can continue sending Guest Passes until the Guest Perk runs out of uses or expires.
Purchasing an item for a friend
When a Client purchases an item for a friend through Bring a Friend, the item lands directly on the friend's account and the friend receives a push notification letting them know the gift was made and asking if they want to use it to register for the Class that started the flow.
Memberships cannot be gifted from the app because they involve recurring billing. If a Client wants to gift the value of a Membership to a friend, the best option is a digital Gift Card the friend can apply toward their own Membership bill.
Things to know
Sending a Guest Pass via push notification only works if the recipient already has a fitDEGREE App account. For friends without an account, the Client should choose Bring Someone Else and use the share link instead.
If a friend refunds out of a Class that was paid with a Guest Pass, the use returns to the friend's Guest Pass — not back to the original sender's Guest Perk.
Account Balance purchases ("Send Money") between app friends are still available if your studio has Allow purchasing account balance for others turned on.
