Membership Freeze Perk Regeneration

Modified on Wed, 27 May at 7:53 AM

When a Client's Membership comes out of a freeze, the Perks on that Membership regenerate in one of two ways depending on your company's selected Freeze Perk Strategy. fitDEGREE offers two options so you can match the strategy to your business model.

To change which strategy your company uses, go to Company > Settings > Freeze Settings and choose the desired strategy. You can change strategies at any time.

Strategy 1: Proration (default)

With this strategy, Perk renewal days of the week or month stay consistent even after a freeze. For example, if a Perk always renewed on a Monday, it will continue to renew on Monday after the freeze.

To accomplish this, the Client receives a prorated Perk after the freeze that bridges the gap to their next regular renewal day.

  • If a Perk renews every Monday and the Membership is unfrozen on a Friday, the first Perk after the freeze runs Friday through Sunday.

  • The next "full" Perk then starts on Monday as it normally would.

  • The number of uses on the prorated Perk is scaled to match its length. If the prorated Perk is half the normal length, it includes half the uses.

Benefit: renewal dates remain consistent across your studio's membership base, which makes administration simpler.

Strategy 2: Date Shift

With this strategy, the active Perk at the time the Membership was frozen is restored when the freeze ends — preserving the exact number of uses remaining.

For example, if a Perk had 3 of 8 uses remaining when the Membership was frozen, it returns with 3 of 8 uses remaining.

  • To preserve the exact remaining uses, the day of the week or month that the Perk regenerates may shift after the freeze.

  • If a Perk had 6 days remaining when frozen, it returns with 6 days remaining — even if that means the next renewal lands on a Wednesday instead of a Monday.

Benefit: Clients lose nothing they had paid for — the Perk picks up exactly where it left off.

Choosing a strategy

  • Strategy 1 (Proration) is best for studios that want clean, predictable renewal cycles across all Members.

  • Strategy 2 (Date Shift) is best for studios that want to preserve Client equity by giving back exactly what was paused.

Either strategy can be combined with the bill proration logic described in Membership Freeze Bill Proration to ensure a Member's account stays accurate financially as well.
