How to Establish a Shared Membership or Class Pack between Clients

Modified on Wed, 27 May at 7:43 AM

Sharing in fitDEGREE lets one Client cover registrations for another Client out of the same item. Sharing happens on individual Perks within a Pack or Membership, not on the whole item itself, which means you can decide exactly which portions of a Pack or Membership are shared and which stay private to the original purchaser.

Setting up shared use is a two-step process handled entirely from the fitDEGREE Admin Website. The pricing option needs to have at least one Perk marked as shareable, and a Relationship needs to exist between the two Clients on their profiles.

Step 1: Make sure the Perk is marked as shareable

Sharing only works when the specific Perk inside the pack or membership is set to allow it. The shareable setting lives on the Perk, not on the pack or membership as a whole.

  1. From the Admin Website, click the menu icon in the top left corner and go to Setup.

  2. Under Payment Options, open Class PacksOne-on-One Packs, or Memberships depending on which item you want to share.

  3. Find the item you want to share, click the three dots to the right of its name, and select Edit.

  4. Open the Perks section.

  5. Click into the specific Perk you want to share, and check the box labeled This perk can be shared.

  6. Save your changes.

You can repeat this for as many Perks as you want to make shareable. Any Perk that is not marked as shareable will stay locked to the original purchaser, even after a Relationship is established.

Step 2: Establish a Relationship between the two Clients

Once a shareable Perk exists, the actual sharing is controlled through Client Relationships on the Admin Website. Relationships can only be created and managed in the Admin Website — Clients cannot enable sharing themselves from the fitDEGREE App or OnTheGo App.

  1. From the Admin Website, click the menu icon and select Clients.

  2. Search for and open the Client you want to set up sharing for.

  3. Click About Me below the Client's profile image.

  4. Scroll to the Relationships section and click the blue plus sign to Add Relationship.

  5. Choose the relationship type (family, friend, parent/guardian, child, partner, sibling, or spouse).

  6. Search for and select the other Client.

  7. Choose the direction of sharing — one-way (only one Client can share with the other) or mutual (both Clients can share with each other).

  8. Click Create in the bottom right corner.

What the receiving Client sees

Once a Relationship is in place and the original purchaser holds a Pack, Intro Offer, or Membership with at least one shareable Perk, those Perks appear on the receiving Client's profile under a section called Shared with me. This section sits below Active Items and Future Active Items on the Client profile and on the My Items screen in the app.

The full parent item (the membership card, the class pack record itself) does not appear on the receiving Client's account — only the specific shareable Perks. This is a change from the older shared-item behavior: sharing is now more granular and the recipient sees just the Perks they have access to use.

Things to know

  • One Client can have Relationships with multiple other Clients at the same time.

  • Sharing can be one-way or mutual — discuss with your members which fits their situation before setting it up.

  • Only Perks that are explicitly marked as shareable are shared. Non-shareable Perks on the same pack or membership stay with the original Client.

  • Relationships and sharing preferences can be edited or removed at any time from the About Me tab on either Client's profile.

  • Account Balance, Gift Cards, and other forms of credit are not shareable — only Perks within packs, intro offers, and memberships.
