Packs and Memberships are both ways to sell access to your Classes or One-on-One Services, but they work differently. Here's a quick breakdown of when to use each.
What is a pack?
A pack is a single-purchase payment option. A Client buys it once, uses up its uses (or hits its expiration date), and then needs to buy a new pack to keep registering. Packs come in two varieties:
Class Pack — covers Class registrations through a Class Perk. Can include Extra Perks (additional Class or One-on-One credits, or Guest Perks).
One-on-One Pack — covers One-on-One Appointment bookings through a One-on-One Perk. Can also include Extra Perks.
What is a Membership?
A Membership is a recurring or fixed-length payment option that gives a Client ongoing access for a defined billing cycle. Memberships are built around Perks, which can include:
Class Perks (access to Classes)
One-on-One Perks (access to One-on-One Appointments)
Guest Perks (the ability to send Guest Passes to friends)
Memberships come in two varieties:
Continual Membership — bills on a recurring schedule until the Client cancels.
Fixed Length Membership — bills a set number of times, then expires automatically.
Key differences
Billing structure: a pack is a one-time purchase. A Membership has recurring or fixed-length billing.
Renewal: a pack's uses don't refresh — when they're gone, they're gone. Membership Perks can be configured with renewal dates so uses refresh on a schedule (weekly, monthly, or yearly).
What's included: packs are tied to their Primary Perk type (Class or One-on-One). Memberships can include any combination of Perk types in one product.
Editing the template: adding or removing a Perk on a pack template only affects future purchasers — existing pack holders keep what they originally got. On Memberships, adding or removing a Perk takes effect immediately for everyone currently on the Membership.
Where to find each Client's history
Each item type has its own report under Reports > Payment Options: Class Packs, One-on-One Packs, Memberships, Intro Offers.
If you want to see a Client's full Perk history across every item type in one place — for example, all Class registrations they've used regardless of whether the use came from a pack, an Intro Offer, or a Membership — open the Perks report. It lists every Perk in the system in an itemized view with filters for Client, type, remaining uses, and source item. Was this article helpful?
