What Are Tag-Based Restrictions?

Modified on Wed, 29 Oct at 9:39 AM

Tag-Based Restrictions are a control feature within fitDEGREE that allow studio admins to limit registration access for specific classes, events, one-on-ones, and series sessions.

These restrictions use your existing client tags as a way to define who can register for a given registrable type. When applied, only clients with the designated tags are permitted to register — creating a simple, flexible way to control access for things like member-only events, intro offers, or advanced-level sessions.

How It Works

Each registrable type in fitDEGREE (Classes, Events, One-on-Ones, and Series Sessions) now includes a Tag-Based Restriction section.

  • If no tags are added, the registrable type remains open to all clients.

  • Once one or more tags are added, only clients with those specific tags are eligible to register.

This restriction applies across all registration methods — including the fitDEGREE app, web widgets, and admin portal — ensuring consistent access control.

Example Use Cases

  • Member-Only Classes: Restrict registration to clients with the “Active Member” tag.

  • Teacher Training Events: Limit access to participants tagged as “Teacher Training 2025.”

  • Level-Based Sessions: Create beginner, intermediate, and advanced tags to control who can join which class.

  • Corporate Wellness Programs: Assign corporate tags to restrict access to employees of a specific organization.

Where to Find Tag-Based Restrictions

You can locate the Tag-Based Restriction section when creating or editing any registrable type
