Understanding Sub Request Notifications in OnTheGo

Modified on Fri, 16 Oct at 11:52 AM

The fitDEGREE OnTheGo (OTG) app sends notifications at each stage of a sub request, so the right people know when coverage is needed and when it's been arranged. You'll find them under Notifications at the bottom of the app.

Can you cover this?

When a request is posted, eligible instructors get a Can you cover this? notification. It names the instructor who needs coverage, plus the class, date and time.

If your studio reviews requests first, this goes out once a manager approves the request. If your studio only shows requests to instructors approved for that class, only those instructors receive it.

Still looking for a sub

If a request is still open 24 hours after it was made, eligible instructors automatically get a Still looking for a sub notification for that class. After that, reminders are sent manually: a manager can use Send reminder on the request at any time. Reminders also appear under the notification bell on the fitDEGREE admin website.

A reminder doesn't assign anyone. A manager still chooses and assigns the sub.

Your session is covered

When a manager assigns a sub, the instructor who requested coverage gets a Your session is covered notification naming who is covering their class. The assigned sub is notified too. Other instructors who offered to cover are not.

You're covering a session

When a manager assigns you as the sub, you get a You're covering a session notification. It tells you whose class you're covering, plus the class, date and time. This is how you know the assignment is official.

Reminders for the assigned sub

If you're assigned to cover a class, OTG sends you a reminder the day before and the day of that class.

Other sub request notifications

  • Managers are notified when a new request is waiting for approval (if your studio reviews requests first).
  • The requesting instructor is notified if their request is denied. They stay on the schedule for that class.

Good to know

Offering to cover a class doesn't put you on the schedule. Only a manager's assignment does, and you'll know it's official when you're notified that you've been assigned.
